Welcome to the home of the Avalon Gators.  We provide a daily swim team program throughout the summer for those children who can swim a length of the pool through to the age of 18.  We aim to provide a fun and instructive environment for our team members in which they can exercise, improve their swimming and socialize with new and existing friends.

Avalon participates in the James River Aquatics Conference (JRAC) and will be competing in the middle conference this season.  Our meets are on Monday evenings and provide all family members with the opportunity to see how much your swimmer has improved as a result of the daily instruction.  If you are new to Avalon, it is also a wonderful way to meet other members.

The Gators will be headed up by Coach Rachel Smith who is in her 5^th year coaching with us.  She will be assisted by Maggie Cuthbert, Jack Nestor and Taylor Turner.

The children participate by age.  Mites are 8 and under, Midgets are 10 to 8 year olds, Juniors are 12 to 10, Intermediates are 14 to 12 and Seniors are 18 to 14 year olds.  The age cut-off date for participation is June 1^st.

If you have a child who is able to float and wants to learn to swim that length, we also have a mini-mite program that runs 3 times a week.  These team members get to swim the last home meet of the season, if they would like, and/or have fun at a cupcake meet just for them.
