General Information
Please let the diving coaches know as far in advance as possible if your child will not be available for a diving meet. Write these dates
JRAC rules require that in order to qualify to dive in a meet, divers in each age group and diving classification must performs a certain number of dives. For example, if your child is a novice mite diver, he/she is required to perform 3 dives--two are required dives and one is an optional dive to be determined by the coaches. Until your child can perform enough dives for his/her appropriate age group and dive classification, he/she will not be permitted to enter a meet.
Dive meets are generally held on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 1:00pm. Each club is limited to a total of 35 divers for these meets. If your child is diving in one of the away meets, he/she should come to Avalon on the morning of the meet and be at the "away" pool no later than 12:30pm to have practice time on the board. If the meet is a home meet, your child should come to one of the Thursday morning practices at Avalon and return in time to dive with their age group. Senior divers always dive first followed by Mites, Midgets, Juniors and Intermediates.
Parent Volunteers
At every diving meet we must have at least 8 adults from Avalon working at the table. It is very important that we know who is working each meet prior to the meet. If your child is on the Dive Team, you are required to sign up for 2 jobs. Most of the jobs require working at the meets, but there are a few other jobs that you can select such as providing dessert for the party after the last home meet or calling for food sign-ups for the Dive Team Banquet. We ask that you sign up for your 2 jobs at registration. If you must make a change, please try to switch with someone and make sure to notify Len Archer or Karen Armstrong prior to the meet!
All parents are asked to bring a food item to the Dive Team Banquet. Parents of divers participating in Dive Champs are asked to bring a breakfast food on one of the mornings of Champs.
